John - there is a person in Arkansas that has cataloged over 700 extra columns on the LMC and thats is not counting what he call extra body parts. Yes, they are being collected.

I emailed him with a link to this thread. Hope he can share a little of what he has found here.

I'm here, I've joined. Hi Coop, Hi BJ. Hi John1. Yes, I have a few doubled columns and DABP's, BJ gets all my trail tails except the 1992's. I really like the anomolies. Seems
I have slowed down some, not finding any new ones, just duplicates. I built an easy chart to catalog the doubled columns. I have several wavy steps, too.

Hi Bill S,

I've seen your name referenced as to discoveries you've made. They are posts on the CONECA forum.

Welcome!

Have Fun,

found in rolls: I wrote you a letter one time 5 or 6 years ago, you answered it, I kept it, it's in a box inside a box inside a box. I am member of the coneca forum but never write in it. I visit coppercoins at least twice a week but
never write in it. Have sent them about 58 cents they have posted. I don't stay on computer much, it wears me out. I
would like to tell people about dbld cols on this forum, though. Very interesting stuff. I love the anamolies best
such as the doubled Abe body parts (DABP's). I would rather
cut wood and mow grass than do computers.

Hi Bill,

I knew your name was familiar for another reason. I kept your letter as well. You wrote it in March of 2001....Whew! Time flies!

Thanks for reminding me of it!

In the letter, you were sharing your great interest in die varieties! You're still hooked on them:-)

Have Fun,
Bill

Found in Rolls: I was doing many wheats then, they were cheap. I do memorials now and find lots of neat stuff. I use
one bank for all my cents plus a few friends that save them for me. May 27 I bought a McDonald's coffee and received a
new find 1982D LDZ class 6, sure a beauty. I found a 2005D
with six additional knees. Sent it to Wexler, he was puzzled
over it. I think I have 1300 diff. class 9's. 650 being dbld cols. I fixed me up a chart to catalog yhem. The other class 9's are too LEGION. So many to number with new finds, would
have numbers cutting into the main run of numbers there would
be so many A's, B's, C's etc, would get confusing. I wrote
article in Errorscope about the dbld cols, though. I am over
whelmed with the tripled and slanted, dbld slanted to go along
with the normal dbld cols, I just collect them and put them in 2X2 envelopes (w/duplicates) for now.

Hi Bill,

I think that you will probably or already have one of the most comprehensive collections of those known to man.

Is the 1982 D LDZ variety seen on the obverse or the reverse?

Fascinating!

Bill O': 82D LDZ has splits on date, notching on upper left LIBERTY letters, notches on upper right IN GOD , thickness
on WE TRUST. Bold all over obverse lettering.
I just save all these class 9 things. I am a collector and
not a profiteer. Just the joy of collecting. Don't think
these things will make anyone wealthy.

Welcome to the forum Bill S. It's good to have another variety expert on board.

I'm giving you fair warning right now that this place will become addictive. Bill O' stopped by to answer one question and the trap was sprung. There is now a day that goes by that I don't see him posting here.

Bill, any chance you can share some pictures of your finds. I've found some partial extra columns and feet, mostly on the 2005 coins. Thanks John1, would like to see some of yours also.

Hi Bill - Glad to see you on this forum.

This area, doubled columns and extra body parts, has not been talked about that much and it is a fascinating place. With tilts from secondary image to primary image, offsets between images and multiple images (more than two), these doubled dies are worthy of a second look. Which reminds me, I do have a couple of tubes that I'll send you.

Hi to everyone,
I don't have a way to post photos right now, sorry, maybe in the near future.
When you refer to double column,is that what the bar on the column is,a part of another column?

The extra bar is assumed to be a class 9 doubling made from the single squeeze process. It can be be on The 6th or 7th column or make doubling in different areas but are not the same as trails/wavysteps.

Some are strong others more minor ones. They are believed to be cause by the columns fluting making single/double bars at times or even more extreme ones.

Just interesting to find though looking through circulated cents you can get in your hands.

Coop: You do very well with camera, nice representation of
the things we want to know about these cents. All one needs to do now is simply start hoarding them up.
BJ: Your package is in the mail with the cent you asked for.
I mailed it on the way over to see the girls I love so much.
John1: we can get together on the computer and do these pennies if you want.
MorgansRMine: Coop showed all I could have shown to you.
