Hey folks, will get decent pics loaded as soon as coin arrives. Asking for a grade opinion's without better pics is ignorant of me. FR and AG omg I might be in trouble with this purchase. Here's a hint, its slabbed in an old blue ANAC holder so anything could go grade wise.

Looks more like strike weakness than wear, but I'll reserve an opinion until we see the reverse.

I also think F-12 is pushing it a bit at this point.

The OP coin almost has cheek/jaw separation and even a bit of red color too. Is this an AG coin too? Grading is all about wear, not die state. Don't feel bad though Crazy, the majority of "internet grading experts" can't grade 1922D's.

Pics of the reverse would help. I am all ready for someone to start berating my grade opinion.

Wow ANACS, they see cheek and jaw separation and enough obverse detail to justify VF. However, without a gradable reverse not sure how they can justify a 30. In my experience moving up the VF ladder is done by evaluating the wheat lines and this coin has none. ANACS should have only gone VF-20 IMO.
GREAT DISCUSSION COIN! Thanks for posting this one.

Cool coin, way overgraded in the Blue ANACS though. Wouldn't crack it out.

Yep, those are decent coattails weak D's. Once again, I post the AU-58 from 2014 Heritage Auction. Both 2's are generally soft compared to the 19, the coat is jagged and even on some worn versions there is distress like stretch marks over the coat below the date. I haven't examined enough of them, but on at least 2, including this AU the left lobe of the WE is raised relative to the right. The reverse is much stronger than Die 1 and 3 as far as wheat ears go. The E in E-Pluribus is tall and illegible, there is a giant U next to a small R in the same word. It's my belief that this reverse was used with a fresh obverse and made a lot of '22 D weak reverse coins. Of course the most obvious identifier is that the reverse is rotated slightly clockwise compared to the other Die 1 and 3 weak-d's which are counter clockwise.

Awesome die # 4 yours is a cherry the highest grade I have gotten a peak of. I have seen 3 on the bay in low grade or details go from around $40.00-77.00 its hit and miss locating one. These 22 series cents are a hoot. It appears that the TPG's swing all over the place on certifying as no D vs weak D weak reverse. I have them all except the die # 4 no D weak reverse. I'm sure their out there and its going to take a good eye to acquire one. An old timer I know at the Manhattan KS. coin club tells me there is a now die #5. I need to interrogate him further as I would have to see some literature before I draw conclusions. I learn something new all the time, goodness I get a VF then I want an XF. 1922 fascinating.
