I hope you did not pay much for this. Gold dollars are widely counterfeited and this piece has a lot of problems.

Many metals including copper and lead are not magnetic so....even if it's genuine, or a gold copy, it's not worth more than melt value, $55 tops.

looks to be an ex jewelry piece. as for real gold it would need to be tested.

Oh dear, this one screams fake. Even being heavily and badly plated, I can tell the reverse detail sharpness is a joke and gold dollars do not have a beaded border like that. The bad plating job was probably intentional to try to cover up its fakeness...

It is a fake, as you mentioned the U is wildly out of place, and the font stlye of the 1 in both the date and denomination is wrong.

Just open a dispute when time allows, be sure to send it back with tracking and insured and have the package weighed when at the PO and ask to have that shown on your reciept.
If you have a friendly small PO I'd even put the fake in the mailer right in front of them so they'll remember what you sent. Don't be all that trusting of the seller to pay you back, open a case no matter what he says.
Stick around here and you'll learn a lot and be more informed when buying in the future. to CCF
