I Think I would agree with Zimmy, looks like missing clad layer on a tapered planchet.

Zimmy is correct, this is a partially dated quarter struck on a tapered planchet that was also missing clad layer.

It is an excellent find and should go in a 2x2.

So it is worth holding on to? Much value to them or just a cool find?

@KM19, I'd still really like to know whether this coin is underweight, but until we have confirmation from Mike Diamond, you should definitely keep it in a 2x2.

Kaitlenmiller19,
Do you have a scale to weight it?
And yes it definitely carries a pretty good premium.

Obviously the coin is underweight, you didn't have to weigh it to know that. Not sure how knowing the exact weight was going to help with anything.

@zimmy, I think that @KM19 posted the weight at least partly based on my request. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, but I happen to think that having this information helps to confirm the visual evidence of a missing clad layer.

OK But it is missing more than a clad layer. The planchet is severely tapered as well. I guess to me, it was obviously underweight.

As a pure amateur in this game, I have no problem stating that Mike is a professional at this stuff. Below is a link to Mike's website, but he does poke his head here onto CCF periodically to weigh in with his opinion. I believe that E&V messaged him about your thread so hopefully Mike will have a chance to check out your coin soon.
