How do I post a larger picture? the website seems to limit me. Is this larger? Thank you for all the help by the way and for the warm welcome!

I agree it does look like a struck through die cap. What gives me a clue? Note the inside edge of the rims. Instead of looking rounded, they are not strong, just like you would expect on a struck through die cap.

I'll contact Mike Diamond, so he can give his input as well.

While it does resemble a design struck through a late-stage die cap, I am somewhat disturbed by the faint pattern of concentric lines visible on the reverse as well as the absence of any evidence of increased striking pressure on the obverse (e.g., a finned rim). Then, too, there is the absence of a wire rim on the reverse (admittedly, a variable feature). As a result, I cannot rule out some kind of alteration. This coin would have to be studied up close.

Aresdudge, you need to send this to Mike Diamond, so he can examine it in hand. He cannot determine if it's a genuine error or not. (He will need it in hand.)

You'll have to PM him, but you'll need 50 posts first, in order to email other members. You'll have to stick around with us more.

Could someone else in this community be kind enough to PM him and tell him that I'd like to send him the coin?

We can't share email information or address information here, since it's against the rules on this forum. You'll have to hang around with us for some time.
