Yep RDV is Reverse Design Variety. RDV-006 in full red on a 1988 is an extreme rarity. Only 16 and the best graded is a 67. Apparently a registry collector offered 2.5K and got turned down.

UPDATE
I decided after some dileberation to get this graded by NGC (I prefer their slabs) and it was marked recived friday. I'll post grades when they're live. I expect somewhere around MS-64RD. It looks amazing in hand.

Nice one. PCGS has updated their price guide with more accurate value the 88 Philly examples are $25.00-150.00 the Denver examples are 3-4 times this. There are that I know of 2 high grade PCGS certified examples in MS66 RD and MS67 RD, problem with them is neither one is the RDV-006 variety. Both are misattributed and Ian at GC immediately pulled them when I pointed this out. From all I have owned 10 Philly's and 2 Denver's none showed a weak thin questionable FG the initials were fat and the G was easy to discern from the RDV-005. I still believe this variety is a bargain to squirrel away and if the trend continues will show a fair price in 10 years. Registry set collectors are a finicky group, the 88 RDV-006 is a low point total coin on the series so there isn't much point increase from BN to RD that may justify a registry collector paying a hefty price. I have sold some varieties to set collectors whom I considered wealthy, and in my opinion they were as bargain conscience as I and on their game. Certifying your coin is a smart move these babies are scarce plus their sweeter when you find them. Congratulations.

It was slabbed NGC MS65 RD? Thats pretty nice. PCGS shows it as $475 in MS65 RD. Congrats on an amazing find!
