I agree, if it's been bagged, give it a quick dip and rinse. What's to lose?

Don't know that a dip will work on this Morgan.

I'd try a 50/50/5 first: 50% dip, 50% water, 5 seconds, then rinse with distilled water and acetone.

Personally I would give it a quick dip. But I've dipped coins and under the toning were some hidden hits. Post pics if you do.

If it were me, I would first see if acetone soak for a few minutes does anything. I doubt it, but worth a shot. If no luck then I would dip it quickly (less than 1 sec) , and immediately put in a distilled water rinse.

I would try a quick dip in acetone first, to get the grunge off. Then a quick 50/50 dip.

Since it's already a details coin, I think there's more upside than downside, and I would agree with a quick, dilute dip to remove the problem toning. It looks like a nice coin underneath.

Adam , I would reverse your method . The acetone should be first not last .

T-BOP, I agree; my advice was predicated on OP having already done acetone first.

A quick dip in E-Z-Est would be my choice.

Or you could sell the coin to someone who will appreciate it as is. The metal on the surface and device frosting that will be removed by the acid cannot be replaced. Dipping will irreversibly damage the coin and no matter how we feel about it now, generations to come might prefer that coin to have been left alone.

Well I rolled a Q Tip with MS-70 and pulled a little color off. I will take it to FUN and see if it will holder on a show grade. Under the chin area it has 4 or so coin hits in the field, but not damage just bag marks.
