@Paul Bulgerin, You definitely have a rim Cud, and an unlisted one at that. You might want to submit photos to J.C. Stevens to see if he will list it on cuds-on-coins.com.

Fantastic coin!

I have sent an email to cuds-on-coins.com with a link to this post. We'll see what happens.

fortcollins - I've taken some close up shots of the 7:00 position and it does look like it might be a rim Cud.

Looks to be a planchet flaw/lamination or damage.

I am submitting the photos to cuds-on-coins later today (when my daughter shows me how to create a zip file!) and let you know if they think it is a Cud, lamination or ?

Thanks for all the responses to my original post.

I'm not seeing anything keeping this one from MS66RD

I am still weighing whether or not to submit it for grading.

Several years ago I sent a 1909 VDB to NGC and it received an MS-66 Red grade. This one looks pretty close to that one in quality.

I have submitted photos of the coin and the possible rim Cud to Cuds-On-Coins.com.

We'll see what their verdict is.

J C Stevens at Cuds-On-Coins.com has designated my coin as 04-R.

It's now an officially recognized Cud.

I might add that my wife was not overly impressed when I showed her.

Congratulations on the plate coin!!! Being listed next to two Fred Weinberg submissions is no small feat. You should slab the coin and snag the plate coin designation for it.

Thank you, fortcollins, for pointing it out in the first place.

I am definitely thinking about sending it in for grading, especially if it has a shot at MS-66.

You are very welcome! I've been helped out many times on CCF and it's always fun being part of the sprawled out local club that is CCF. It's also really fun seeing nice things happen to good folk on here. Keep us posted on the grade. I agree, you have a real shot at a 66.
