I have no experience in these, but it sure looks close to me.

Lincoln Cent Resource
The following is a list according to rarity of all known abnormalities, the 1992 Close AM
being the scarcest. This list does not include the other know transitional reverse varieties, such as the
1988 P & D RDV-006.
1. 1992 Close AM - extremely rare
2. 1992 D Close AM
3. 1998 S Close AM
4. 1999 S Close AM
5. 1999 Wide AM
6. 1998 Wide AM
7. 2000 Wide AM - least rare

It seems as though the 98 & 99 S proofs are rare in the Close AM variety, while the 98 & 99 business strikes are rarer in the Wide AM.

Hi,
Thanks, I like the list you sent. Now, I can try and figure out which ones I want to try and collect first. Thanks again.

Come on SilverCents. There's also the Close AM variety on the 1998, 1999, and 2000 S Proof Cents. Nice find! It's the real deal and worth a lot of money! https://www.davescollectiblecoins.c...incoln-cent/

Awesome find!

SilverCents, it's opposite of the business strikes on the proof versions.

Sorry fellas, I was rushing that post, had to eat dinner, dang...I feel like an idiot right now. If I'm going to be honest I completely forgot about the proofs having a different strike.

Lesson learned folks, don't rush yourself when your dealing with coin errors!

Looks like a great coin. I'm not sure what they are going for now days, but at first they were crazy money. Keep that one safe and free of finger prints.

When they were first found they were selling then in the $1000 range. So best to wait to buy something new I guess. The first time I saw a die clashed shield cent, it sold for $85 dollars. I bid what I thought was crazy for it, but it went for many times higher than my bid. So best to be patient. But the best example you can find, but not the most expensive. (Buy the earliest die state example you can find) They always look even nicer than the VLDS examples.

Hi,
Thanks again to everyone for all your help. I have decided to send it in to be graded and slabbed, that way I can make sure it is protected and I will decide what to do with it later. I really need to get a book on all these errors, I see so many posts, like yesterday regarding a 1983 LMC but I had no idea what was special about it, I still don't even know all the "codes" yet for the coins but I am learning. I ordered a 2020 Red Book and someone mentioned a Cherry Picker book so I may try that as well, hopefully that will help. Thanks again everyone, have a great week.

You will find more specif information here on the search. I have those books, but the are more of a general information fact check. But the live sites have more information on individual attributed dies. And you have us here for quick questions.
