Nice find. I don't often look for the lesser known DDs on ebay but it is nice to know they are out there for the picking.

Hi Will, Very nice one (and please don't dip that beauty). As for the 38-D, I had to pay a bloody fortune for it but it should be here shortly. Needed that one in better condition so decided to go high on it and get that done.

Because dipped coins are often easy to see that they've been dipped and thus won't grade straight up. This is an FS-101 coin in MS-64 or better condition which makes it a registry-quality coin. Would be really, really bad to screw up a coin worth good money.

Canned air can work, but I go to photography stuff (which canned air is used to get dust off of slides). A microfiber lens cloth should be able to lift that off without making the slightest mark. You just don't rub it, you gentle pull it over the surface without pressing down. Should take most of that kind of stuff off.

I would stay away from canned air as well. Compressing air can force the water vapor it contains to condense and you might end up spraying your coin with micro droplets of water.
Photography stores sell a simple rubber bulb with a nozzle that can be used to propel air across the coin.
When particles need to be agitated to help them move I use a large super soft natural bristle watercolor brush and lightly dab stait down then back up. No swirling or lateral movements

Just getting off work and checking this out. Thanks for the comments, interesting to learn about the cleaning. TB I had a feeling. I've missed a couple recently but I've bought so many that it's fine with me. And seanqueue, coins are there for picking, but it's really hard to find the good ones!

Very nice DDO! I recommend not acid dipping either. Value is almost always decreased completely or to very little.

So I got this one. Doesn't look as good as I wanted in hand but I'm still keeping it. I wasn't even going to post it but I just got another one, already slabbed MS63RB by ANACS for $50!
