I'm pretty sure it's a peeled Lamination error.

While it does look like a lamination error, the question that comes to me is this: Why is there a mark across that area? It is not in the same direction as the lamination. What is the weight? If the coin was altered, the weight would be normal and the obverse side would be affected. If it is not affected opposite that area, then it is a lamination issue.

Very nice lam. The smaller area that is further south looks to be a deeper layer of lamination which would help give the allusion of a ridge separating the two areas.

It's short for lamination. Here is a link to some different types that can happen to a coin.

Here is one of mine and the piece that delaminated.

When they peel off, save the peeled area also. Some bring big money when they are huge. On I know of sold for 11K.

One peeled before, then a second one was removed and they were slabbed. Why it sold for so much? You got me. Just know that he was paid that much for it.

Yes. It's worth a premium. I would hold onto it and put it in a 2x2 for protection.

@j321, wow yes. It is easy to get overwhelmed, so I would recommend taking it slow. We aren't looking to buy your coins so hopefully you are confident in the opinions that you are getting here. There are multiple areas within CCF and so feel free to post new threads for coins in the respective areas.
