If the seller followed the guidelines he will be covered for loss. Buyer reports to seller package has failed to arrive. Seller refunds the buyer and then claims the money back from whatever postal service he used. Pretty much standard format. I had a missing delivery from the States to the UK. Seller refunded me straight away and claimed the loss from USPS

Hopefully it will eventually show up. I had one item take a tour of the originating area before working its way down to me. Everything was fine in the end despite the delay.

The seller indicated he would refund the purchase price if the package doesn't show up by the end of the week. He is a reputable dealer who sells on Collectors Corner and his own website as well as coin shows.

OP...

If you have not done so, sign up for "Informed Delivery" on the USPS website. You can see what packages are coming to you and better plan for their arrival. It has been very beneficial to me. When I have something valuable or important coming to me I have no problem meeting the mailman at my curbside mailbox..... Especially when I see "out for delivery" on the website!

Hopefully your's will show up soon!

The $200 deductible you mention - perhaps he self-insures? USPS has no deductible on the amount of insurance purchased.

Maybe it will show up. Just last month a small First Class package (with tracking #) I sent to a Detroit suburb took 12 days to arrive.

With more and more things done via the mail today, you should expect this more and more also. I still remember an item I received in the mail years after it was so called lost.

A couple of months ago I had a coin mailed to me with usps tracking. The tracking said it arrived at my local post office on March 20. It still hadn't been delivered by the 24th, so I went to the post office to see if they had it. They pretended to look in the back for it then said they couldn't find it but would continue to search. Two days later I notified the seller and he said he'd refund the payment the next day. Lo and behold, the next morning the package was delivered and I was able to get hold of the seller before he issued the refund. It's entirely possible your coin is hidden away someplace in the post office and until someone stumbles across it and puts it back in the delivery system it's going to stay there.
Hang in and don't give up hope.

I have a friend who works at the post office in the shipping area. Some of his stories make me cringe .... especially when I think about coins that I've shipped. For example, since we are in Minnesota, many times when unloading the mail the top pallet of letter gets covered in snow. So, they just take the snow-covered pallet off, set it aside until the snow melts, and then come back for it at a later time. I can just see stacks of mail sitting in the corner of some loading dock.

It is still MIA. The mail carrier is still looking for it. The last tracking scan was at the house across the street from me.

Time to go on the offensive. Ask the neighbor across the street if they received it by accident.

A claim has been filed with USPS by the seller. The story makes no sense. There was no attempt to actually deliver the package even though the truck was across the street based upon GPS location when the status was changed. The package had to be on the truck to scan the barcode. My Ring doorbell shows nothing. The message on the tracker says "Unable to access the delivery location". The delivery location is a house with a mailbox and a door bell. We received some mail in our mailbox that day. They have no explanation why an attempt to deliver notification was not filled out.

They claim to have looked everywhere for the package. Still a mystery.

The neighbor confirmed no package was left at their house.

Sounds like the carrier that day had no idea what he/she was doing or got overwhelmed.....or maybe both!

I know when my regular carrier takes vacation things go haywire till he gets back. Stuff gets put in the wrong mail box. The sub drives up and down the street multiple times trying to correct mistakes and deliver stuff that was missed. It's crazy.

I watch the "Informed Delivery" website like a hawk when my regular carrier is off.
