Yes, he said he doesn't have a gram scale but the coin shop guy that appraised the coins said he should send it in to PCGS.

We get along great because we are polar opposites as far as coin collecting. He isn't an error fan. With that said should he send it in to be graded and then auction it after being slabed? If so by whom? Or is the value not enough to do that?

This is an amazing coin! In my opinion he should get it slabbed, it could be worth a premium. I would suggest PCGS or NGC, but if he doesn't want to go through the process of making an account and all that then I would go with ANACS.

First, be sure of the date. A 1955 could bring in some very good dollars slabbed, but if it is the more common 1979 then a lot less. Most of these seem to pop up from 1978-1980 from what I've seen and anything getting back into the 50's starts to get more expensive.

I'd want this slabbed too, PCGS will probably bring the most money, but they cost a bit more to certify. If he is just wanting to sell it for the best price try contacting https://www.greatcollections.com they can do the submission and take it out of the sale price so he isn't having to front the money, plus they send in a lot more coins so they might get it back quicker too.

That definitely looks like 1955 to me. Great coin! Would definitely have it slabbed if I were him.

That certainly looks like the real deal, a 1955 and TPG worthy.
