Hmm...before I read the other posts that cleared it up I was going to say the nativity. Three wise men, Mary, Joseph, the manger, a barn and angel in the background. It all makes sense, eh?

Man, that's got to be the worst counterstamp I've ever seen.

This is an interesting thread. Such punches be made or obtained. Everyone seemed interested in this, but if the thread had been....How do I punch Lincoln, probably most would say how bad the act

How about a CCF design punch we could use on cull coins?

I would buy a ccf coin!! Even a token would be neat. I have a couple of coins that are actually of coin stores. and of course the little plastic mint tokens too.

Seems to me to be commemorating the birth of a child with angels overhead. It looks to be a bed and a small child wrapped in a blanket. Midwife and helpers?.

The figures on the right are holding the mothers hand and the figures to the left are at the "mothers" feet. The angles hand is directly over the childs head.

Seems there is a collection of State Cents. I've found one State in Change.

I certainly don't think anyone was intending to change the "flags" to "angelic figures" or an "E.T." :-) I just think it's a crummy rendition of a counterstamp punch based upon the original painting by Trumbull.

Admittedly, having twenty four parrots here, my first thoughts were..."Gee...a pair of Macaws overlooking the Signing of the Declaration of Independence" and "That was an interesting artistic approach". Ultimately though, my silly, little thought gave way to reality.

It's "flags" :-)

They have these machines on the boardwalk, pay .25 stamp a design on a cent.

When they open in April I'll get one and post it.

(How would anyone like to work in the counting room of a boardwalk arcade?)
