to the CCF!

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

The coins you've posted look to be damaged. Not errors or variety strikes. The coin with the "teeth marks" looks like it was press between the jaws of a vise. The cent that's smaller than it should be looks like it's seen the rough side of a grinder or hours of sanding. The rim is flat in some areas where the person modifying the coin went a little too far with the amount of metal they removed. Someone had too much time on their hands. Just PSD

Sorry it's not better news. If you have any question about this, just let me know.

The smaller cents (62D) are meant to be the size of a dime so that they could be used in vending machines. That's what we used to do to get cheaper soda (in the 1970s)

To keep the replies to your post from being confused, you should start a new topic for each coin you have questions about.

The new coins are PSD also. The Buffalo nickel has solder on the obverse and it look like it was on the reverse also, but it's been removed. The Lincoln Cent has been pressed between other coins in a vise or metal press. It's no longer round and the image from the other coins is reversed. If it had been struck twice the second image would not be backwards.

Sorry, again. It's hard to hit pay dirt on your first try.

Edit: Missing word.

Well they are all damaged after they were struck. Just worth face value.

To CCF! I agree that you just simply have damaged coins. PSD.

Coop, is there a way to date when these Hobos were made? I ask assuming older ones might carry a bit more value? Some of the Hobos available on ebay look a little too slick to be old. When I say old, I mean nickels that were hand carved by some drifter (or soldier) back several decades ago. This one https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hobo-Nicke...AOSw~MZdlmbV looks as if someone with a Dremel tool made it yesterday. Perhaps I am just romanticizing it too much?
