So after looking one under a scope there are raised number all along the Inside of the rim, letters, numbers, and what looked like scratches but were raised in the same coin Color. Raised metal, same color breaking through the W at 2 spots. I could go on but it's tiring, I need a better microscope. The ink on the front seems to be a man shooting an old gun and a man and a kid shooting an old gun. Strike that, I think I see a man shooting a gun with a with bent over next to a kid. Crazy coin!

Possible sugar residue from a soda that transferred the design from another coin?

Rinse off the coin and see if it goes away? (I'm thinking it will go away)

Sugar residue? I'm sure you guys are good at numbers. What are the odds of sugar making a complicated designs on 2 different coins in 2 different areas of the same date and mint...oh and adding raised metal, most in the same color and texture.

Well the other thing that can raise the surface on coins is glue. (Elmer's)

Ok. Humor me since I'm new at this. Theoretically speaking is it possible for the busiest mint in a year they're know for putting out a crap product (from what I've read) of this kind?

Not a joke, it is real. Real damage. But this was altered after it left the mint. Not a mint error.

The images are OK but could be clearer to help in the discussion. So here goes........ There is discoloration and contact marks which are PMD and are very distracting.. But there does appear to be some identical raised elements on the obv. of both coins which wouldn't happen from Post Mint Damage. Such as: 1)A curved arc starting at the W (WE), touching the base of the D (GOD), to the back of Lincoln's head continuing behind his ear, to the collar and exiting the bust under the Y (LIBERTY) 2)Starting at Lincoln's bangs and going SE to the rim to about K-3. 3)East to West, under LIBERTY about in line with the bottom of the date. I would think this is some kind of die damage or issue. (Unless maybe they are struck through a very late stage die cap, if a die cap produce very similar coins back to back. The distorted reverse image appears to show a normal strike.) EDIT: I just noticed there is even similar elements starting below the I (IN), going south to the E (LIBERTY)and to the field at the top of the shoulder. An overlay might show these much better than I can explain , but alas I'm not able to do an overlay.

I appreciate the constructive criticism. The back has near identical raised metal and ink features also. One being a raised piece of metal going through the top middle left of the shield. Can't tell from the awful pictures. I've gotta learn how to upload to this sight better. I'm not as bad as it looks. I got this coin from a friend who had a roommate that owed him rent. It said 1915 in its holder, not sure how long or how many people it fooled. What grade would you give it?

You should post that into its own topic for discussion. I would split this out into its own, but much of your reply is relevant to this topic.

Yeah thanks, it's not like the subforum for grading coins is staring me in the face everytime I come to this one. I'll upload there
