It is not the DDO. It is MD. If you see a reduction in the devises and if it appears flat, it's MD.

I don't understand how the devices are reduced they are twice as wide and I have never seen a spread that far on md the mint mark is tripled

To help you out identifying MD from a real doubled die is when you see no splits in the devises. On MD'd devises it looks almost smeared. On a true doubled die it isn't flat like your date is showing, it is rounded at the tops and say for instance on the very bottom of the nine you would see two separate tails like on a true doubled die. On your cent there is only one tail. I'm sorry but we've seen hundreds of these and when I first started out I would get frustrated when I got the answer I am giving you now. It'll take a little time but when you actually have a Class 1 doubled die in your hands, you'll fully understand the difference. Hang in there!

Forget looking at the date for these. The other devices are the best places to look for the big DDO.
