It does look like the coin has the shallow N which was only used in 1864-1870 and 1877. Will try to do some sleuthing.

First thing to catch my eye was the spacing between the denticles. Just made it look off to me right away...

To be frank, I do not like the look of that coin. Many features look poorly defined, and the surfaces pebbly and rough. The numerals in the date also do not look correct.

Nice one - The Shallow N is the tell. It's a counterfeit, period.

This post supports my premise that I should only be buying slabbed coins until I learn more about grading raw coins. Always concerned about counterfeit and altered or cleaned coins. This forum is really helpful
