Looking again, the tilde between "silver" and "one" on the bottom/reverse is angled in the OP but curved on the PCGS image. Scrolling through the eagles on PCGS Photograde https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/#/sileag/grades it looks like the reverse did change slightly at some point, including these differences with the tilde and the "T"s -- but the OP does not match the design for 2018. The seller may be selling genuine eagles, but the photos don't match the description (or each other). They look much better than most counterfeits we've seen here, but I'd pass just for trust reasons. Too much is wrong with the listing.

Edit to add: CalzoneManiac has the details for the reverse difference.

Sounds like we got it figured out! Pictures and description are inaccurate. Reverse photo in listing probably isn't a fake coin, but rather that of an older design.

So while not overtly fake, there is a lot suspect on the listing. Given this, I'll pass. No use taking the risk when my LCS will sell them to me for $19+tax.

Thank you for your help everyone! Great group of people here.

I agree that it is probably a case of reusing a photo without knowing that it would not match. I don't suspect intentional deception, but if you can get them from your LCS, take that route.

Hi and pardon the intrusion. I must admit the coin looks very suspect. The "U" on the reverse is not even the same font. I would imagine the entire font used on the reverse is different. Also, have you weighed it? It should weigh 26.73 grams. Have you used a magnet on it?

Why would someone fake a coin that cost 20 bucks?

Since the US Mint is changing the ASE design explicitly to include anti-counterfeiting measures, my guess is that it is routinely done.

Profit comes from volume. But then, I still don't understand why someone would fake a 2004 Jefferson nickel: http://goccf.com/t/175236 (let's not speculate in this thread, to stay on topic here)

The reverse is the pre-2007 design.

Bingo

Coin pictured is probably real but the reverse and obverse pics are not from the same coin. This would make me suspect that you, obviously, would not receive the coin pictured.....or it could be the rare 2018/07 Silver Eagle

That is a good fake it has some design in the feathers. I accidentally bought a fake silver eagle the other day and now I can see all the fake details in it. It was a proof 2021 W. As soon as I seen this coin I knew something was wrong with it. First thing I saw was the bold skirt lines on my coin and the color was way off, also the flag has some extra patern on it. On the eagle side of the coin It had no feathers detail at all and neither does the leaves on the branch the eagle is holding. It was nearly three grams under weight and the diameter was off because I tried to use the case it came in for a real silver eagle and it cant fit in the case. I just never suspected that there were fakes for these coins, it came with the real box without a COA but now I have learned so much about fakes since I bought this so I will buy more and be careful and carefully examine and coin I get.

Just to be clear to those who don't know about ASE's, the USM slightly changed the design of the reverse from 2007 to 2008, mainly in the serifs or lack of it, and the tilde. The ebay pics are from 2008 and beyond while the NGC stock photo is of the 1986-2007 design.

For those who don't know, there is an error variety called the "2008 with 2007 reverse" which as it implies, is a 2008 coin but has the reverse from 2007. These only appear in the burnished uncirculated variety.

The images used in the ebay listing were probably of genuine coins, just not the same coin.

There was an ebay listing that said silver eagle and deep in the fine print it was silver plated steel.

The lack of the extended leg or serif on the reverse of the letter 'U" of united is the dead giveaway that this coin could not be 2018.
