I see you noticed the MD, and the hub doubling. (With the white arrows) In my book there were no listing for the 104. But I feel you do have a DDO. Nice images. I may use them for my educational files. I check on PCGS for the images for this coin, but they were not on file. I was hoping for full images of 'IN GOD WE TRUST', that way will show the strength of the doubling on the images.

Quote: Just as I thought the doubling was not as strong as the closer view of the images made us think it was I agree, it is a Medium spread, and I did have a hard time to show the doubling on the lower magnification as it was the only way I could fit most of the IGWT in one shot. Thank you as always for the nice work and the great teaching.

Very nice photos...but I don't see an FS-104 in my CPG. Coop, did you mean DDO-004. I don't think this dollar quite matches the CONECA listed 71S DDO-004, reference the photos on Variety Vista. It might be the 71S DDO-015.

I don't have a listing for this in my book. But I was using the Op's information. Wexler lists an issue with many dies for that same year http://doubleddie.com/368401.htmlThere were a lot of these that were consider as DDO, but when they got to 72 dies, they realized it was an issue with: Quote:
1971-S $1 Pr WDDO-001 Description: Strong Class II tripling spread towards the center shows on IGWT, LIBERTY, and the date. Die Markers: Obverse: Peg Leg R. A small die gouge can be found to the left of the R in LIBERTY. Reverse: Two small die gouges can be found on the top left of the E in AMERICA. A die scratch runs NW from the upper left I in AMERICA. A die gouge can be found to the right of the top of star #13. Submitted By: Kevin Flynn Cross References: None known Comments: This variety was once listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1971-S $1 Pr WDDO-072 but was reassigned when a large number of the original listings were found to be the product of doubled working hubs.
