I'm not nearly an expert on DD's, but it appears to me to be DDO-001 based off my research. Some more experienced member would be able to confirm

It does look a little like DDO-001, could we see a couple pictures of the eye and date?

Looks normal with Machine Doubling. Not the top of the 'B' is reduced. MD

Could you please explain the difference in these two photos. One is a DDO-001 and the other is this coin. Thanks coop!

looks like DDO-001 to me, but certainly weird how the top of the B appears reduced.

001 the eye is doubled along with the 1 and 9. I'm not seeing it here.

I think it's just the lighting obscuring it, Cujohn.

The Variety Vista description of DDO-001 does not include any mention of doubling on LIBERTY:

Description: Strong spread on 19 of date, upper lapel, ear, eye, nose, lips, and chin.

I think the OP's coin has the same features on LIBERTY as VV's examplar, but since it's not listed in the description I have to go with Coop on this one and say MD.

You beat me to it. I had it already to post and that is the issue. That area is not part of the DDO:

Quote:
Description: Strong spread on 19 of date, upper lapel, ear, eye, nose, lips, and chin.

On this site the enclose other areas that are not affected by the DDO. Why? Because markers may Match on a coins die state and it is a match on your coin. But markers are only useful if you have the variety first. ( Machine Doubling is not a die marker. They are a strike event)

I found this snippet... regarding the "BE" for that year as master die damage.

I am thinking most of the known obverse doubled dies for this year are eyelid related or some doubling on date... thinking the "BE" images on attributions are just markers.

Can anyone confirm that is correct?

Well another tidbit of information. So looking back at the V.V image, you can see the master die doubling, but on your coin you are seeing the Master die doubling and Machine Doubling. Thus why you thought it was tripled. So it is still not a doubled die.

Where the confusion came in is I assumed in a DD listing that all photos posted to said listing contained doubling. I learned to read the description of the listing. Thank you all for your help!

We are all picking up new information. We all share/research questions. Then share with others on the forum. So questions get answered or something new is learned.
