Just a guess based on these pictures I would say AU53 or 55.

It might make AU-58 - do you have return privileges?

Even with the poor photos it looks like the coin has only slight signs of wear and nice luster. AU-58.

the 96(O) are typically weak and this one shows a little weakness so its average for strike. subdued and broken luster throughout both sides, contact marks and very minor wear on the highest points of the devices as well as wing tips and breast. AU58

Thanks all I'll have to verify if it's returnable . Unless something has been cleaned I have a hard time returning coins. I like them to much haha

The 1896-O is one of several depression-era (1892-1896) condition rarities. The big break occurs between circulated coins (AU-55 and below) and sliders/UNCs (AU-58 and up). This coin is on that AU-55/AU-58 bubble.

The photos just are not clear enough to pinpoint the grade. The coin is definitely AU-something, but that something is vital for you to determine whether it is a bargain or a badly overpriced coin. An AU-50 or -53 is a <$100 coin. An AU-55 bumps up to around $140-150 and AU-58 to just about $300. Guessing wrong here could be expensive.

If you have time before the listing ends, see if you can get sharper photos from the seller. I'm sure all of us are certainly willing to try with better pics, but these pics are just too iffy.

Don't care for the coloring, but that might be the pics. Return privileges are key here.

@Coinfrog, There is a little bid of a halo effect on the left side of the portrait, especially along the nose and below the chin. I hesitated a bit on that and wondered if the coin may have been cleaned.

Looking at the new photos, I just can't see the coin making AU-58. The obverse is right on the AU-53/AU-55 bubble. There is just too much wear on the cap, cotton blossoms, large bear claw, and hair above the ear to push it past AU-55. The reverse is closer, but lands at AU-55, largely because of the talons and eagle's legs. Regardless of the reverse, the coin likely wouldn't net over AU-55. The bag marks from the bridge of Liberty's nose SW to just between the fifth and sixth left stars are a concern.

The scratches angling SW from Liberty's forehead are a greater concern. They form a rectangular shape, and look unnatural for bag marks. A smaller, but similar, rectangular (or at least angular) scratch exists on the lower cap, just below the ribbon. Graffiti? This might detail the coin.

Bottom line: I see this one as AU-55 or AU Details. A straight-graded AU-55 is around a $140-150 coin in today's shaky market. It's around a $100 coin if it is detailed. I don't see a realistic path to have this one straight grade at AU-58.

JMHO.
