With all the marks on the jaw and cheek bone, I can't see this above MS-65. FS....not even on a good day.

I was able to retract my bid. They added one more photo and it's very clearly only 3 steps not 5. I think the grader at NGC wasn't properly trained.

Here's the holder on this one. Kind of mind boggling since it is tied for "finest known FS" with a market value estimated at a couple $k. You would think that more care would have been taken for a registry type coin.

This is why I don't buy slabbed coins . Their are many PCGS ,NGC, and ANACS graded coins that I just don't agree with the grade . I would only buy a TPG if the coin was a top key date and only for authenticity .

Nowhere near FS. And no 67 IMO, I would expect a stronger strike at 67 and far less contact marks.

Bid now $650 on this one even though it's obviously neither 67 nor FS. People buy the holders not the coin nowadays.

Many people do Fenton. I sure as heck don't, it took 2 months of dedicated searching to find an MS67FS War Nickel that was actually FS and actually 67.

It is nice to know that here there are people willing to give their opinion on what they believe a coin should be graded. The best advice I was given was, before any coin is purchased via an online market venue; find out what their return policy is. If you are able to put the coin in your hand and see with your own eyes I'd say, if you buy it....its yours.

Apparently NGC's definition of 5FS is that any vertical slice has 5 full steps. PCGS however requires the entire line to be unbroken. Would be nice if these TPG's could have a consistent definition.

I have seen coins with less than 2 steps get the FS designation from PCGS. Either these TPGs can't properly attribute/grade full steps, or they can, and they just pick and choose when to give them out. I have seen nickels that should of gotten a full steps designation come back without one.
