Equally silly was a mailing I received yesterday offering for sale "12 shiny U.S. Presidents Dollars" for only $30 plus $5 postage and handling.

AS far as the "Obama Change".... I also that it was defacing legal tender. If I ever got my hands on a set, I would check the Washington dollars for the missing edge lettering. If not, I have 2 bucks and some change! Thanks Obama....Mission Accomplished!!

I saw these on TV the other night. I don't know much about coins, but I thought they were ugly and had that dollar store quality. I would'nt buy that crap.

Quote:Aren't there laws about defacing US coins? With intent to defraud. Adding a mintmark, or shaving off silver, for example.

Is this the "change" that he was gassing about during his campaign? Hopefully the stimulus check is not payable in this junk!

Quote: but they include a certificate of authenticity.... It never occurs to people that the easiest part of the deal to fake would be the cetificate of authenticity. I have an autograph of LBJ with a COA. It's on state of Ohio letterhead, signed by the secy of state. Now THAT's a COA.

I'll stick with my "politically incorrect" obama 50 cent note that a friend of mine made and printed off his computer! Probably will be worth more 10 years from now! ;)

Whenever I get an offer with a "postage paid" envelope, I just put some used toilet paper in it and mail it back.

Quote: but they include a certificate of authenticity.... The certificate of authenticity is for 'the actual coins'the US Mint minted and nothing else. After that these companies deface these "COA" coins and IMO are no longer considered COA . Don't you think? mila_
