First, I want to thank you all for your fine comments, and as a result, I just cancelled that order I made two days ago for my new 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMT-GT. Gunna have to now go with the C-Class. Thanks guys.

Lol...just saw date entry....Fixed it. Ok.....very exciting comments. But as I said, maybe my first instincts were correct. Pics stink...don't post. Anyway, we will see how it goes, and no I did not pay much for it (will look up exact amount and post), which is why I thought something was wrong and took a bit to decide. But it was a over two years ago. Meh. My guess was MS-63, so you all are right in there. Or cleaned. No idea....but I figured you guys could detect even with pics. I will post it good or bad.

If you folks are correct on consensus here, with crap photos...my hat off to ya.....again. . And......(drum roll please)....you probably are. No biggie, but it is a nice Merc. No more poop pics though on future coins (well, if I can avoid it). Haha. I also figured the bar (no pun intended) will be set high for a coin of this rarity in high FB grades. Fun to hope though.

I will learn alot from these batch of coins (which I noted a number of times...finally grading). If I need to adjust in my picking and who not to buy from, if they come back cleaned or altered. If many do? It's time to end most on-line buying, and go with in-store flesh. But I know that can be risky to. Alas...we will see. More experience and research needed. Ok, thx for the candidness as usual. Brutal as usual, with a smattering of encouragement.....I LOVE IT! Nothing worse than softie responses. Haha. That's why we are here.

(Some of you may remember a few of my posted coins. They are at PCGS as well...."Chief Double Snakes" FS-501 1936-S Buff / "Red Treat" 1879-S Morgan / "Mercury Monroe" 1920-D Merc [not expecting much from that-Cleaned?] / "Chief War Paint" 1913 T2 Buff [Superb toning]/ "Mercury Rising" 1917 FB Merc / "Dark Knight" 1898 Morgan [crazy dark toning]/ "Tone Mountain" 1925 50C Commemorative Jackson-Lee [monster toning...IMO]/ "Chief Better Dayz" 1928 D Buff (he has seen better days, but pretty tones) lol / "Jeff's Alien Landing" 1971 FS Jefferson nickel Double Strike with two dates + mm / and others......). Will post all upon receipt. to see how everyone did. I know you all are losing sleep over this waiting. But relax, their coming.

And T-BOP.....I am still trying to decide on that Jefferson you so generously posted. Very tough decision. My obviously sharp instincts tell me to go for it. To make up for this Merc if it's a dud. Only $420 was it? And that rare ONE-STEP feature (er....Run and Jump Step feature)? Sheesh....a bargain. Whada Ya think?

Looked up invoice. Paid $250. So if cleaned? Bust. If MS-62 to MS-63, no FB? Almost Break even. Though the fact is they are fully split. Picture light deflection is deceptive as noted here. But does not mean it will get it.

Found some more pics. No better than ones posted. But Because of cost being low, and just a feeling. seller no bad feedback though. So, who knows. Hope I'm wrong, but it wil be no biggie. It really is a nice looking dime that does have luster and cartwheel. Unfair to you folks with pictures posted to not expect cautious results.

I also now think that a number of others being on-line buys may end in the same details condition. But again....I always said once I get around to grading, it will be my testing/learning curve. Be interesting. 17 coins. I even suspect my error coins may have been cleaned as they look too good. I did get the FS-501 Nickel from Allegiance Coins I think their name was, and told they were reputable. Coins do look natural though, but coin doctors I hear can be very good in their nefarious products. So.......

But again, we will all now soon enough. Don't lose any sleep though while waiting. It's ok.

If it grades FB, than you got a winner, if not than its a little pricey in my case.

Best advice I can give for posting is this, and this is from my experience.

Get your pics as close to how it looks in person, color, luster, sharpness of photos...

Basically try and capture the coins details, how you would see the full coin under a loupe.

Also, when buying coins, unless you're a gambler, generally you are better off buying coins online based on photos that fall under those rules.

Don'tget discouraged. Hope this helps.

Heck, I'll be an outlier. 66fsb. Unless of course it is cleaned, which I can't tell either way.

IndianGoldEagle & Ty2020b? You guys nailed it. CLEANED. No TrueView to post and it is being sent back. It's a shame whoever did that cause in-hand it was a nice coin. It really is.

But not discouraged on this one. Disappointed yes. I knew the possibility existed. Got this from same dealer as the 1917 FB that did grade. This coin did have luster and cartwheel. I just agreed that no way of knowing if cleaned, but really thought it would be fine, though again, looked like the 1917 to some degree which graded.

Merclover.....You are corrct. No more novels. Just post. I figured since pictures lack some features I would help by noting them. But you are correct. Future coins? I will shut up and just post.

KYcoppercoins....Pictures are my challenge. But like I said to Merclover....I will just post, stay quiet, until you folks give an unbiased opinion. Pictures I am still working for better clarity as you noted.

Macmercury....like I told you in ths chain, either it was goin to be a bust or maybe a good day. Lol. Well...we know the answer to that. The $250? Lesson learned. Still have no idea what was used to clean it? Looked fine in-hand. Maybe acetone? But that does not hurt coins. Correct? Meh. I did nothing to it, or any other coin, because I would surely ruin them. Have zero interest in even knowing how to clean a coin. Thought about it for about a half a second. Lol. Nope. So, most I paid for a coin and that was a couple years ago. I won't starve. .

I have more surprises coming but I will wait until they get here.

Grapecollects nailed my 1925 50C Commemorative Stone Mountain. Most of you commented on it. Go check out my Trueview and grade on that one. And my comments. That one IMO is a head shaker. But again, Grapecollects sorted it out on the Technical side, though I still think it is a real head scratcher. Worth a look. See what you think.

I have a question..

Why are you insisting on grading coins that honestly to me aren't worth grading? Is it the slab, or you just like graded coins? Pretty much the last few you sent in for grading I would have passed on each one.

A FB in MS grade is in the north of thousand($), so I believe BuyGuns likes to gamble.

hfjacinto....this particular coin was one of first I got. In-hand it is much nicer. It was a toss up. Yes...you nailed it. If you look at my blabbing in last couple years, I noted I wanted to build a slabbed coin collection. I like slabbed coins. Received a cool reception. Now I know why. But I wanted to see how the first batch goes. It was way below expectations. I still have more that did not go the way I thought. I see you looked at a few. I still have ERROR coins PCGS is grading. That ought to be exciting. Lol. So, I rolled the dice, but now see more clearly what I am dealing with in professional coin grading.

But here ya go hfjacinto....one main thing I have learned, and should have in the last two years, is you CANNOT just look at other graded coins for comparisons, and assume "oh, mine must be that grade or close"! No. Because ANA standards take many things into consideration, and one is (as explained to me by a few folks here on CC), is each coin may be graded starting from a baseline that is based on that coins Strike, Mint, and a host of other criterea.

So a simiar past graded AU55 coin may look far worse than your AU55 graded coin (same type/year), because of grading criterea I knew nothing about. It also answers my question I have had for a long time of why do lower graded coins many times look way better than the higher graded coins? And visa versa. Same reasons.

It has changed my outlook already. Have to learn somehow. And this was a lesson and an eye opener. Sometimes we need to see for ourselves. CC has been proven right in most of the comments I have received. I readily admit that. So, I like slabs, but I am going to be far more discriminating in coin selection and grading candadites. That is a fact.

Yes...I write too much. Explain too much. It's just in my nature. I write as I think. Fast. And it just ends up as novels. Not a good thing here. People like to the point. I have gotten better. Working it. Just not this time. Haha.

But I am trying hard to really learn this craft in a compressed manner. It is tough really. But this one grading episode had brought some clarity, which at first I thought this is BS. Lol. I no longer think that. It was me. Not the grading. Though I do think a few were under graded. But again, based on how they look with no professional digging. So, that is good news to see where I missed it. I have zero problem admitting failure. Hell, I have a few more spectacular failures I am going to post. Haha It was just hard to understand how these coins I will post got what they got because in the flesh they were really nice IMO. But another lesson learned. It's a good thing.

macmercury....Lol. Yes. And I have mentioned that as well. I like a little risk. I knew there was risk and rolled the dice on this one for sure. A better outcome with an actual grade would have been a very good day. Does that mean I sell it? No. But maybe, if it meant I could apply any bounty to more coinage. Hey. Not such a bad idea. But I also knew the cleaning was a possibility (whoever did that......well, nvm). Though I was more concerned with the FB, which had it not been cleaned, may have received it. Like you said....a gamble. Unfortunately...snake eyes. Lol. That's ok. Hey....every coin sent in is a gamble. Odds better if you have a lifetime of experience like many of you folks. I don't. That's why I come to you.

But I have to make the final decision. Enter: RISK. I will not starve. I enjoy the hunt. Building some nice coin arsenal but do need to figure out how I want to go about setting better goals. Slabbed collection is now about ended. CC folks right again. Lol. Just have a mix I guess. This was a disappointment, but only temporarily. Small potatoes. But big learning.

Onward....

I'm doing a slabbed IHC collection and from my experience most common coins are cheaper if you buy them already slabbed. For the keys RAW can make sense if you get them at a good price and slab them yourself.

In the end as long as your happy (which based on a few of your posts, you didn't seem happy with the grade) buy what you want. But based on the grades you got you might be happier with already slabbed coins. My 2 cents.
