Agreed, it just doesn't look like a die gouge to me, from what I've seen on the forum and my own experiences, it just looks too flat for one.

Looks like die damage to me. It is raised, so something altered the die. Nothing else is affected, so it is not a hub issue. So a die gouge makes sense to me. A incuse mark on the die, leaving a raised area on the coin.

Interesting. I suppose I'm not used to seeing die gouges looking like this. I'll take a note on this one.

I have a few of them. Some more pronounced/larger than some. I have 1 1970 and 5—72 all Philadelphia.

Would you like my pictures to compare? Just of the raised roofs.

Both I guess. I primarily meant that go ahead and shoot some pics, but since John1 was right you can take it that way too.

I've already post my 1970 awhile ago. Already put all of them as die gouge. But I wondered about how can 1970 have a gouge and then 1972 have a similar gouge? The first picture is of the 70. Next five are the 72.

You have an interesting subject. What is up with that bar or so I labled it an escape hatch that is barely opened. Almost one of those artist things.
