Something about this coin just looks very wrong to me.
EDIT: Might be encased in some sort of ring?

Can we get the weight? That would help eliminate if anything's been adding/lost.
Edit: an additional side shot out of the 2x2 might help as well.
Does somewhat resemble a bezel.

It's not a ring. Isn't it a mint error? I've seen photos of other Lincolns that look like mine. I am just not sure though. I've been wondering about this coin for years. Unfortunately, I don't have a scale I could use to weigh this coin right now.  Edited by Morgan Nerd

Definitely post the weight when you can. It being over would point towards something added. I'm guessing it's not under.
See what others have to say. I'm leaning towards a bezel of some kind.

Hey guys! I just figured out what this coin is! It's a bezel! So Ty2020b, you were right! I found some bezel photos online that look EXACTLY like my coin. They were Lincolns too. Thank you for your help guys!
So I guess the coin is pretty much worthless huh? I was hoping it was some kind of ultra-rare $10,000 error coin or something! I guess I need to learn more about error coins.

Morgan Nerd, In future posts,it is always best to remove coins from 2x2 holders before taking photos. Also,it is best to flatten those staples. John1  |

Removing coins from 2x2's would be WAY too difficult. I am very careful with my staples. I'll try to get better lighting next time.

You can buy a cheap scale online at Walmart or Amazon for about $10, with free delivery, and it's really useful to help verify the weight of error (or any) coins. If you buy one, try to find one that measures to hundredths of a gram (0.00) I would be lost without my scale and electronic calipers to check my errors. Im going to say its a trick coin/fake. I found one just the other day that was a wheatie..all I found was the wheatie side of it though in the discard coin tray in the coin counter machine at my dump spot. Just my 2 cents

Removing staples from a 2x2 is only one way to remove a coin from a flip--there are others. Photos not taken through 'clear' mylar or plastic material typically show a bit more detail of the coin.
In any event, the item of interest appears to show well on the 2nd photo posted. Coin appears legit, but encased in a bezel. Worth 1 cent.

Handling a BU coin could get fingerprints, but a circulated coin it won't affect. Why? Because the mint surface is gone. The fingerprints had happened and now the the original surface is gone. SO taking it out of the 2X2 is possible. Just unfasten the staples and take the coin out.

Its a lot safer this way and doesn't cause any dust from the cardboard to get on the coin. Only do it for coins in 2x2's made for bigger coins so the area between the coin and the edge of the cardboard is farther and you are less likely to scratch the coin.
