I'm getting ready to get some graded

If you wean sending them to a TPG,make sure each coin will have a retail value slabbed of at least $150 to justify all costs involved in sending them in.

Never intended for circulation, so most common grade should be around MS-66, scarcer in lower grades.

This is just a bullion coin, even MS 69 there is no premium for these. It's current worth is about $1-$2 over its melt value.

Don't use The Red Book for value. Only for info. That being said Melt value is about $25.00 so maybe worth $28.00
on a good day. I have 500 of this things and dont know what I should do with them

It's just that I've seen a 2004 w proof silver eagle bought for over $70. I tried to get one but was out bid at 45. Seems every one I bid on no matter mint mark goes for around $40 or $50. You should put the up for auction and sell them if you're not sure what to do with them.

Your comparing a proof to a bullion coin. They are not the same. I get proofs from $45 to $52 depending on date. Most bullion ASE are a few dollars over melt.

See below picture.

They are left to right:

Bullion- standard no mint mark
Burnished- bullion with a W mint mark
Proof
Proof- notice the mirror and cameo surfaces?
Enhanced reverse proof
Enhanced reverse proof- fields are reverse of standard proof.

The value of the below are (l-r)
$30>$45>$52>$52>$1200>$1200

They cost me

$22>$49>$65>$65>$68>$68

So I lost money on 3 and made money on 3, this is why you need to know what each is.

Proof coins are made for coin collectors. Bullion coins are made for The Zombie apocalypse. Or investors

Ok, I think I have a handle on this now. The proofs are Cadillacs and the bullion is your basic Ford Focus.

So if I want to collect coins stay away from the eagles with no mint marks and no cameo? I think it would be better to just stick to the Morgans and the Peace dollars I was getting. Tried to get a few eagles And got bullion when I thought it was a collectible coin.

Well...

If silver takes off, you would make more money by having lots of bullion, so can't really say you'll lose money by buying bullion.

When it comes to proof bullion as opposed standard bullion,
I prefer to accumulate at the zombie level, with the least amount of premium charged by the dealer.

I'm pretty new to grading but just looking @ the coin for esthetics alone (not care what coin it was) I'd say MS64. To much field damage IMO for higher.
