2nd Round Questions (I reserve the right to have a question added should there be a tie at the end of the contest which is 12.00 AM Tuesday, Central Standard Time, USA):
1. What was the name of trade routes in the Indian Ocean that saw commerce between Africa, Europe and India as early as Greek and Roman times?
2. Which European was able to navigate a critical part of the Indian Ocean to eventually disrupt this trade route and set up various ports as colonies in a major spice hub?
3. In these new colonial conquests, how long did this colonizer have a foothold in this land?
4. What were the last 10 coins (name, value, mint year) issued by this colonizer in the land they continued to claim as theirs even after the colonized population was now part of a sovereign country?
5. Tie Breaker: Provide an obverse image of the 1st and 10th coin.

I will post my answer when time is almost up.
But good gracious questions 3, 4, and 5 are extremely difficult. Bravo picking such in depth questions.

This was super tricky, so I wasn't able to answer all the questions.
1. The Maritime Silk Roads
2. Vasco da Gama
3. He began his first conquest in July of 1497, and he died on his fourth conquest in 1525. So he had control of many different colonies for roughly 28 years.
4. Not sure
5. Not sure

Answer 1: Monsoon Marketplace (mcshilling - 1 pt) was the answer I was looking for, as the Maritime Silkroad was more focused on China along with the continents I mentioned, whereas the Monsoon Marketplace is a more westward looking description, without a primary focus on East Asia. Answer 2: Vasco de Gama (both get 1 pt) Answer 3: This was misinterpreted. The language of question 4 suggests, the term colonizer is not an individual but a country, and that country was Portugal. Portugal had a formal presence in India from 1498 to 1961, so aproximate; 463 years. (no points). Answer 4: Neither party provided the last ten coins. (Zero points) see https://coinweek.com/world-coins/th...guese-india/Tie Breaker: No Answer winner: mcshilling (2 points versus 1 point for SilverCent) Congratulations, please email your address!
