Ken, that is one beautiful half. You are putting together a really terrific collection. Congratulations! Just one problem, however: you traded in your No Motto half and the upgrade is a With Motto coin. What are you going to do about the No Motto gap in your set?  |

Here is the problem, you can affordably aquire most early 20th and 19th century coins in F/VF, but then you have your modern coins in blazing BU for close to face value. Now the set is mismatched as you have blazing cartwheels next to dull circulated coins. It feels weird to purchase/find a VF-20 zinc memorial Lincoln and F-15 clad quarter to even out the look of the set, so the only alternative is to find AU-BU of the earlier coins, so you can have at least some cartwheel luster all across the board. Now this presents quite a challenge. I started out with VF or better, then went to XF or better, and now I'm selling some of my XFs in order to get some more lustrous coins. There goes next weeks paycheck, lol. It sure is fun though! :-) |

Ahh. Yes, this album will suck you dry financially and emotionally quicker than a drug addiction. With that said, I heartily recommend it. At least you know you can sell the coins if you need the money. :-)

It's not as if you are just going to be able to go out and buy all the types you need. They aren't that easy to find in undamaged condition, especially circulated. I wonder if this album has soaked up a lot of the supply of decent circulated type coins?

With large coin venues such as Heritage and ebay, it is easy to find practically all the 70/70 types undamaged graded from G-MS-63. Certain dates will be difficult, but a general type will be easily attainable if you have the means. The most difficult of the types to find in my opinion would be a high grade AU-BU classic head large cent. That one is a toughie  Also it would be tough to find oddball naturally heavily circulated modern coins such as a G-4 Sacajewia Dollar. Coins like that may actually be the rarest of the bunch...lol Edited by johnny54321
