Thanks for the replies! Will be keeping this one! I have found one other similar, but much smaller.

To me is looks like a partial missing cladding error. If it were a rim bur, why would the copper be showing?

Note on the 2014 with plating on the coin, the struck through rim bur did not remove the plating? So I feel the OP's coin has a missing partial cladding issue.

Nice! I love the rim burr errors. I have a 1974 Washington quarter with the same type of error and the same look to the attached burr. http://goccf.com/t/357625&SearchTerms=rim,burr

@Coop - my uneducated thought on why the copper is showing is that during the minting process a piece of the machinery created a thin slice or sliver of the coin incorporating the edge and rim. That thin slice/burr was laid over exposing the copper layer both on the planchet and the underside of the slice. The coin was then struck and the slice/sliver/burr is forever part of the coin face. I could be completely wrong, but that is my thought.

Here you go. I ran a Q-tip over the last picture so you could see the burr.

That looks like a struck through ragged cloth/threads?

Looks like some type of planchet flaw. Folded over from the rim before the strike. Thats why you see copper in the folded over side. Its still attached.
I would message Mike Diamond to get a clear answer on what it is.
