I could understand die polishing lines if they were all uniform and in the same direction, But they are not...
It looks like it was purposely done, Possibly with a dremmel tool, Or some type of device used for detail polishing. All the marks are in the recessed areas on both sides and do not touch any of the raised areas such as the stars, face or Eagle. It just boggles my mind why anybody would even try to do such a thing with such a beautiful coin, That is obviously completely uncirculated... It literally breaks my heart

Just to clarify I'm not stating that coin coin_2000 did this himself But what I am saying is for somebody that's been in business for 25 years these marks should have been extremely obvious as they were visible with the naked eye. To list it as a gem and not even mention this in the description is being deceptive

The coin has been harshly cleaned. Send it back for a refund. When you receive a coin from a seller, it is best to inspect the coin in the original holder/container/flip until you are certain that you want to keep the coin. If you are going to handle a collectable coin without a glove, hold the coin on the edge between your fingers. Try not to touch the details of the coin with your fingers. Fingerprints where you touch the coin, can and do tone into the surface.

Slider23 Your 100% absolutely right.. I was so annoyed & to top it off he shipped in in a ripped plastic bag. Not even a holder! No insurance only tracking.. But your right!! This guy clearly doesn't care. I can absolutely get a refund 100% I have already put in for it.. I appreciate everybody's responses... It's just too badd that some people don't have the integrity that the majority of the people in the numeristic community do..

A few things 1 Return it it is harshly cleaned 2 learn how to handle coins properly 3 You have no idea if it was insured or not when you use Stamp.com or Pirate ship or any other platform to ship it does not show on the label .

A couple thing on insurance when buying and selling on ebay. The Seller is responsible for the coin until it is delivered in or at the mailbox. Insurance mostly protects the seller. Tracking helps the seller prove the coin was delivered. Once the coin is delivered with tracking ebay will back the seller if the buyer claims it was not received. Without tracking the buyer can claim the coin was not delivered, and the seller is on the hook for the coin. The best way a buyer can protect themselves is with signature conformation, but post COVID the postal carriers sign for the package, so there is some exposure for the buyer. Collecting on insurance claims can be extremely difficult if you are trying to get the money out of the Post Office.

Slider, ebay told me to file a police report on my undelivered-but-tracked coin. Once I submitted that the seller refunded my money.

Coinfrog, yes! I have already put in for the refund & ebay said that return shipping is free & sent me the return shipping label already. I'm sending it back Monday...My biggest gripe is the deception... I have no problem spending $500 on a raw coin if its exactly as described. I've purchased raw coins sent them in for grading and they've come back much better than I had expected.. It's just when people do stuff like this, it makes me realize how terrible our society is becoming.. We should be able to make a gentlemans deal, Without fear of getting screwed all the time... My biggest beef

Quote: For that amount of money I would insist on getting a graded (slabbed) coin. I fully agree with @NumisEd. Spending $500 on a coin in my BIASED opinion should be for a slabbed coin for several reasons: 1. Much smaller chance of getting a coin that has been improperly cleaned. 2. Much smaller chance of getting a counterfeit coin. 3. When the time comes to sell, whether by you or by your heirs, much better chance of receiving fair value. With a coin graded by a reputable TPG, it's more difficult for the buyer to claim the coin was improperly cleaned or is a much lower grade, compared to selling a raw coin. To sell, just send it to GC for only a 10% hit plus $5. 4. The holder provides some environmental protection, and also allows you to handle it without causing damage (admittedly, not the same pleasure as handling a coin that's not in a holder).

Personally, I've bought from the guy on several occasions and had no issues. However, I've passed on many more. As a guy that prefers circulated raw coins, other that key/semi-key and known to be counterfeited, I'd like to think I'm somewhat educated through research as to what I'm looking at. Which seems to have worked fine over the years. As for the Morgan in question, I would have passed since it's un-certified. But that's me.
