I'm not sure. I only have 1 and nothing to compare to. Here's some pix of how very weak it is.

That looks very odd. Proofs are struck twice, you would expect that to impress the letering very DEEPLY into the edge. And why in the world is the edge of the coin so rough? Proof coins typically have smooth polished edges, even on the reeded edge coins th surfaces down in the reeds don't look like that. And on the date it almost looks like the digits have broken off the collar die leaving areas of differing heights to create the digits.

Here's a better pic. You can also see how they use 3 separate collars to make a ring of some sort around the coin...All the business strikes I have are all nice and smooth real deep etching. That's why I posted this. I figured since it was a proof it should be nicer then this!

Just a guess, but it looks like a broken collar. If the collar broke, it may not have held the coin tight enough to make a full impression on the rim. The notches I see in your picture are what lead me to believe this.

Looks like a normal proof to me, nothing out of the ordinary.

That doesn't always hold true. Some one found this proof Cent in a set once. I wish I had found it!

So much for the card that come with it saying they look very closely at all the coins and any marking or scratch that looks like it on the coin , is on the plastic. Wonder what they could of said that was!!..

That is a nice looking error.

I am not an expert, however the pictures posted, the date 2007 looks like the lower half of the 200 was doubled, especially the 2's lower half and the zero's have a deeper "horseshoe" appearance than the upper half of the zero's lighter appearance. This is normal?

Here's a close up. Looks kinda doubled but looks like whatever makes the lettering was jumping around and etching everything

Hi. Check out this link. Ken Potter has some info on his site regarding edge lettering.

The information on Potters site just relates to business strike coins which use a different system to apply the edge lettering. (Also the large and small font edge lettering appears to simply be new and worn edge dies.)

I am still at a loss on these proof edges. I still see no reason for the extremely rough surfaces, and I also still think it almost looks like the lettering has broken off the edge dies. (The notches where the edge dies come together is normal and should be there.)
