to CCF very nice! Is that a lamination issue on the obverse in front of Lincoln's face?

This is odd . When this coin was struck, 1957, the obverse die was normally used as the hammer die and the reverse as the anvil die. Because of the collar, die caps should not form on the anvil die. The coins that I have seen from this era that were struck by a capped die would have a normal reverse and a distorted obverse. This coin is the reverse of what I would expect to see. Possibly, Mr. Diamond would stop by and set me strait.

Could it be a full brockage?

I think it may be a full indent, or struck through a split planchet

Dearborn- I am not sure what a lamination is, but there is a gouge in front of Lincolns face.

I'm leaning more towards a Struck Through Grease error. Why? Note the coin next to it. Note the rims are the same. If this were a struck through a capped die, I would expect more of a saucer look on the rims. But waiting on Mike Diamond to be the final say on this one.

It's an in-collar uniface strike (a.k.a. full indent).

I like the definition on Mike's Site for this this type of error: http://www.error-ref.com/?s=Full+Uniface+StrikeQuote: Definition: Occurs when a planchet is perfectly centered over another planchet or coin and the two are struck together. This error is also known as a full indent. Never considered that before?
