Quote: Just to add, did you check out the sellers neutral feedback? 1 is about a 32 D quarter... With this snipy remark from the seller: Quote: Inexperienced Buyer Liked the photo but not the coin LOL. What? The only way to assess a coin on ebay IS THE PHOTO! Only AFTER you received the coin can you examine it in-hand. DUH! Nothing to do with "inexperience". Sorry, but I would stay away from this seller.

(Bye the way - the numbers in the sellers name is his actual phone number..) So if anyone would want to call him.........

If these were really "Choice/Gem BU" (i.e. MS65+) they would sell for over $10K total. Even in AU58 condition these coins - as a pair - are $700+ total. I would insist on buying graded only. The excuse of "but, but, but,... the seller doesn't like grading!" doesn't cut it. Quote: I need reassurances that the coin are not modified, polished, cleaned, and most important - are Genuine. I think the seller is going to block you.

The early Proof issue Washington quarters I bought the other day are PCGS graded. Like the 1936 Proof quarter that I'm expecting any day now.. Just for kicks, I searched for more like the above quarters, This guy has another listing for the same coins (or another set): ebay item number: 194049690443

You don't want to consider AU58 for the 1932-D? Also, don't forget that when you contact sellers directly via their own websites, they may want to work with you on the price.

EDIT: you mean one like this? ebay item number: 224415476801Quote: Also, don't forget that when you contact sellers directly via their own websites, they may want to work with you on the price. Good point. I usually don't think of doing that. Hmm. got me thinking now.. Thanks! At the very least, I feel good about all of my purchases so far ( well maybe 99.9% of them ) I did buy a fake coin a few months ago I thought may be real.. I posted about it here on these forums, got called out. and I felt silly. BUT I was only out 5 bucks. So no great loss and a nice lesson learned at the same time.. ) I do, do my homework on expensive purchases though. Like these 1932's here..

My only advice at this point is: don't rush it. As I was told: "Collecting coins is like a marathon, not a sprint".

Quote: "Collecting coins is like a marathon, not a sprint". Funny you should put it that way. I used to be a track and cross country runner. and I was fast. I could run 5 miles at a consistent pace and come in between 15 and 20 minutes. Easy math there. I ran 3rd place in the State back in '78. Anyway I only have one speed.. can't help it.. I guess it's the same with coins too. I set a goal and go for it.

Quote: Wow thanks for posting the link with the sellers reviews (1 stars)...I might contact the seller and ask him to block me. my pleasure. and I think you could just call him up and ask to be blocked. He is in Florida, so be sure to call at a 'reasonable' hour for him, say , like 2 AM or so.... After I messaged him about me being reassured of the coins being genuine, I NEVER got a message back LOL. I guess I called him out... Yes he should be banned from ebay.
