Rental Property Taxes

I posted this one a couple of weeks back, but in another topic that had the same "stick it to the man" type of story, so it probably got missed by some of you.

14 properties...that figures, not too bad spread if he has all tenants. If he's just a flipper/speculator, I actually have little sympathy--his risk.
Many people in my overpriced burb pay that amount annually for their primary residence.
Still, that is funny.

The guy may have a legitimate complaint. I used to own rental properties in the next county over from mine. It's a pretty poor county & they decided the best way to raise revenue was to increase property tax. They couldn't raise the millage rate(%) without a vote by the citizens, so they did it by raising the tax appraised value of the property every year.

I wouldn't have had a problem with that, except the tax appraisal values were as much as 50% more than you could sell the property for. Nothing worse than paying tax based on an inflated value. I have heard from other investors that the same thing has been happening in their locale.

Coinage, I am with you, but I think I would take it in at the very last day just before closing time so everyone had to stay and count it for me. Then to be a real jerk, I would have them count it again.

In Ahia, if properties are re-eealuated higher, taxes are lowered so that the total collected is still the same.

He's not sticking it to "the man". He's sticking it to the town/city clerk and local sheriff. They are the ones he's making extra work for. At the end of the day "the man" still took his pound of flesh.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, just because you have the right to do something, doesn't make doing it right.

He should have dumped it all in pennies on the assessors lawn. 6 tons of pennies
