I'm more inclined to believe it's counterfeit. It just doesn't quite look right.

Check my other post. I have both coins in my possession. This one is in this post is mine. https://www.coincommunity.com/forum...IC_ID=406425

IDK...but it looks like the reverse denticals line up spot on on your coin? The obverse seems to have a slight shift cockwise (ever so tiny)...maybe a different die?
What is the weight?
Probably pretty'd up but still a beaut.
I like it for the right price.

Both coins weigh 5.0 grams (my scale doesn't do 100ths). I have seen so much about there are more fakes than real coins out there. Apparently, tons of a "Beirut" fakes?

What is a good price on the coin?

I would say $650 or so...

coin facts shows a couple of these graded out AU/details selling between $720-$876.

Looks fake. If it's real, then it's been worked over - whizzed and polished.

Your other 54 had a true look of gold...this one does not show that color.
Can you post another pic with better color of the coin...maybe even side by side with this one?

Of all things, the ear looks a little strange on the coin in question.

The Coin on the left, Her eye seems to be 10-15% bigger than the Coin on the right. The Coin on the left, She seems to have a more chubby look than the right, that could be from more circulation I guess.

The coin with the scratch on the back is mine and I have owned it for a few years. The reason I posted both is since I have the opportunity to purchase the other, my research has me questioning whether mine is legit after finding out there are more fakes than real coins. What I can say about the nicer coin is that I do believe it has been buffed/tooled. I do have a microscope and here are some pics from both reverses. it is hard to tell but when I originally looked at the nicer coin (under a 10x loupe) it appeared as if the 1854 was was engraved. If you look hard enough at these pics (I have focused on the date) it seems that the nicer coin has less metal.

Starting to think the same thing...especially the ear that was mentioned above.

Looking at PCGS photograde...not one example has a stubby/rounded lobe as your original has...all have the elongated lobe like the one on the right.

IDK...maybe get them XRF'd to find out composition?
