There we go, a screen shot of a pic to shrink the size.

What would the coin be worth, even in good condition?

Thanks, that's about what they are asking. Just wasn't sure if this variety was super rare and good to grab in any condition.

It may? be a lamination, which has long since dropped off the coin, but a bit difficult to say so for sure, because the alternative is impact damage.
Coin appears at 9 inches diameter on my computer screen, the 'lam' shows up at 5 inches long under magnification, so it was possible to have a good look at it.

To confirm either way, very accurate weight needs to be found. obviously damage will have a big negative effect on value, but
a variety with an error would be quite interesting.

In F condition, a bead-punch 1888 Trends for about $15. To me, the "damage" appears to be a lamination issue, not PMD. The bead-punch is fairly scarce, so it is worth much more than the lamination detracts. If you can get the coin for $10 or so, you should pick it up.

I agree this looks like a lamination problem and not damage.
Picture of the obverse would help but if it's in a nice fine anything under $20.00 would be a good buy.

Hi All,

Finally have the coin in hand!

Still looks like F condition. I think I'll post in the grading thread for opinions.

But first, Can I confirm this is the Middle 8 with bead punch and comments on the Lamination error?

Yes, definitely a "bead punch" 9. And it IS a lamination issue. Did you get it for $10 CDN or US?
