It's limited to each president/design. So, if the mint has it, you can get 2x Washington, 2x Adams, 2x Jefferson........... 2x Sacs

The 2009 coins you get through the Direct Ship program are business strikes sold for face value, unlike the premium-quality (and premium-priced) Uncirculated-grade 2003-2008 Sacagaweas. That means high speed presses and dumped into Kevlar-bag pallets.... (thus, some bag marks even on the nicest examples)

I bought 50 of the 2009 Native American dollars in person from the Denver Mint on Jan. 9th (the first day of release). 35 of them were very nice (by business strike standards), and the other 15 I put in my 'car wash' Dollar coin tube.

I would say that in the case of the Denver Mint, the 'first batch' of business strikes is usually inferior to the later batches.

If you mean Sacs pulled individually out of mint sets I will agree with you. If you mean the coins sold in the rolls and roll sets at $35 a roll with the nice US Mint paper wrappers, those are the exact same business strikes from the high speed presses and shipped to the rolling facility in those same balistic bags and dumped into the rolling machine.

I ordered two kennedy rolls on 1/06, they were shipped on the 14th, I got them the 22nd. I haven't opened the box but the P&D rolls were ordered.

I forgot to mention -- my shipment was 'D' minted dollars, too -- even though I live in Virginia and the coins were shipped from PA. I made it through all 500 and found nothing of interest as far as errors or die varieties. I ended up with less than 10 that I considered a high enough grade to be worth keeping.

I've also done my part in spending many of them at retail stores and what not -- I'm not just cashing all of them in at the bank. On a couple of occasions, I've had to explain the coin to the cashier and persuade them that it was a real US coin. So far, everyone has accepted them.

Well make sure you don't tell the IRS about this if you get audited!
Bc it will be considered taxable income. I am pretty sure they will take the view that you bought the coins below face value, which is tax income.

They also think you should track the coins you find on the ground and pay taxes on that too. :) I actually had a test question in my undergrad tax class about a guy finding a $100 bill on the ground during the year.... a lot of people in the class didn't think it was taxable, but it is.

Yes, I did mean the Mint Set coins. On my last tour of the Denver Mint, I watched the Mint Set (satin finish) coins being pressed (on the smaller lower-speed presses) and packaged into the Mint Set packaging in their own dedicated area, north of the main area that houses the high-volume high-speed presses for the business strike coins. The 2003-08 Sac's for the Mint rolls and bags were struck in the main area on one of the big high-speed Schuler presses (which is now pressing the 2009 Native American dollars that I wash my car with!)

Seems to me that if I find $100, I should only have to claim it as income if the guy who lost it can claim it as an expense or loss. Since I doubt the guy who lost it got a receipt for the transaction, it seems to me like double-taxation if I pay taxes for it.

There is theory and there is reality. If one finds a $100,000 - it seems more likely that an individual would deal appropriately with the tax issue. For $100 found on the street (or the $10 cash back on my credit card for the $500 purchase) -- I'm sure few people actually consider the tax ramifications, much less do anything about them. Just keep in mind, these transgressions may block you from appointment to Obama's cabinet - so think twice before you neglect to clam that shiny penny you pick up.

Received my box of 2009 Sac's. looks like its all D mint rolls. I have gone thru five rolls and found a few that are keepers. Is there anyone that has received P mint rolls who would like to trade 5 unopened P rolls for my D rolls?

I know this is off topic, but that person could claim that loss on their taxes. Proving that loss might be hard though :)

I know everyone doesn't claim all that stuff, but saying it isn't taxable income isn't correct.

It might be tax free bc it isn't claimed...yet it is taxable under the current code.

I have a question.

I ordered a direct shipment of the Native Am. 1$ coins on Janurary 27th. I went to check up on my order once I noticed that there was nothing on my online credit card statement saying that I had been debited $250.

Under order status it is listed as : "Your order request is on hold."

What does this mean? It kind of tells me that I'll never receive my shipment for some reason or another. If it was just being processed I would expect to see just that ... "Your order request is being processed"

Meh?

It usually stays like that for a while because the mint is very slow. I ordered a box January 25 and mine still says the same thing yours does. The mint doesn't charge you until they send your order so that is why it isn't showing up on your account.
