Is the coin in or on the 2x2?

Nice 58-D Cent and nice photography too . Darn , this coin only has a few small issues keeping it from a 68 . I'm at MS-66+ even though that what looks like a staple scratch from his neck down to shoulder is slightly more of an issue for me .

It is in a 2x2. That is how I received the coin. Wasn't too sure if I should keep it in there or take it out ( I do have fresh cotton gloves)

Photos taken outside the 2x2 would be best. Strive for the sharpest images possible using diffused lighting (glare reduction). As its stands at the moment, I'm thinking MMS66. The linear feature from the base of Abe's neck to the shoulder is interesting--scratch or die crack (or hair in the 2x2)?

I'll say MS-65RD. Shoulder is rough, along with the field left of ONE on the reverse.

Wow thank you all so much for really looking into these pics for me and getting a much better idea on the grade for this coin.

So that being said, I know it cost about $38-50 to get graded. If so it would be for me to hold on to for some more years until it's worth something? What do you think?

Or just don't get graded and keep holding onto?

I would not get it graded. I would keep it in a 2x2 and hold it.

It's a common date Wheat cent , and your better photos didn't do it any justice . I would not have it graded . Bringing my call down to MS-65RD . Reholder in a snap-loc or air-tite .
