There is also a third 1941-s and that is found in the small S it is the 1941-S inverted (S) PAGE #308 IN THE CherryPickers Guide.

I have a large S and a small s Jefferson. I had to settle for a circulated Large S and it cost me about 9 bucks recently.
They are scarce. Be careful buying these on ebay. Lots of sellers misrepresent the Large S and it is just a mushy small s.

If you have a Large S, it is pretty much unmistakeably LARGE.
The shape is different too.
I think if you will look at a 1946 S reverse and a 1940 S reverse you will see pretty much what differences you are looking for on a 1941 S.
I have a saved search on ebay for an inverted S 1941 but none have come up in the last 3 to 6 months for sale.
I probably have to just cherry pick one.

I also have a VG-F Large S that I pulled from circulation out in California about 9 years ago.....does anybody have any idea what it might be worth in this grade?

Terror, without pics, I'd say that it would sell for anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks.

Wheezydog.
I have only found two inverted 1941-s in all the years of my roll searching.Rolls of this year are very hard to come by and that year had a lot of substandard coins.

Some time ago, I wnet thru my rolls of 1941 S and sorted between large and small mint marks. I had 18 rolls total and ended up with over a roll of the lage S variety. I will have to go back and check the small S for the inverted.

Texas Collector, those look like the Small S(?)

The Large S should have more pronounced, sharp serifs, thinner curves and be larger than the Small S.

Above are photos of each. Not high quality coins. Just happened to be on the desk. If you open both files and place the mint marks side by side you can really tell the difference.

I think you all are right. Here's a pic that pretty well illustrates what I am seeing (without magnification or the camera.)

Here's another. I think one is damaged, making it appear smaller than it is:

And here's a 1940 S next to a 1946 S, as suggested by wheezydog.
