I hope that it doesn't happen in Canada. There are far too many commemoratives as it is.

Not in my collection.

Steve - you mean this

(Start searching images and find a scan of every NZ wallpaper sheet issued from 2001 except 2008's Kiwi alphabet)

I would say X = Xtra wet at the moment, due to the floods and now Cyclone Doobie.

Kiwi A to Z I think would be

A = Auckland - NZ's hubris
B = Brew - we all love a good one
C = Christchurch
D = Drink, because we love to.
E = Eketahuna, its world famous for its beer
F = Forest - we have it
G = Gold - we used to have it

More later I have to rush off.

I see a common thread already!

H = Harakeke - The Maori name for flax
I = Islands - we are made up of these
J = Jacinda - She is our leader, like her or lump her.
K = Kapai - Because everything is all good (Kapai is Maori for Good)
L = Lost, something you can get in the wilderness
M = Maori - The original people of these islands
N = Northwester - the hot winds that bake the country
0 = Outdoors - Something we love to be here
P = Pancake rocks, a unique formation on the west coast
Q = Queenstown - the ultimate winter tourism destination
R = Rugby - Something we are completely awesome at.
S = Sheep, there is more of them than us, the butt of all our wealth, jokes and reputation
T = Tiki, the beautiful amulets of the old time Maori.
U = Ureweras - The rugged mountains and forests that time forgot
V = Volcanoes - Something we have a lot of of in this country
W = Wool - a product from the sheep that makes us rich
X = Xtraordinary which is what our country is
Y = Youthful, the energy and vibe of this land
Z = Zorb, a wonderful tourist attraction where you roll down a hill in a plastic globe.

That was hard work!

WOW - nice work PT. This would be my choice for Kiwi Alphabet coins (although I would steal some of Princetane's letters such as Urewaras and Zorb) -

A = Aotearoa (or All Blacks)
B = Bro
C = Chur (or Cabbage Tree)
D = Dairy cows
E = Enzed
F = Ferns
G = Green-lipped mussel
H = Hokey Pokey (or Haka)
I = Ice-block
J = Jandals
K = Kiwi
L = L&P
M = Moa (or Middle Earth)
N = Nuclear-free
O = Op shop
P = Penguin (NZ is the penguin capital of the world!)
Q = Queen street farmer
R = Rotorua
S = Sheep
T = Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu
U = Upland Bully
V = Vote for women
W = Weta
X = Xenicus gilviventris (Rock wren)
Y = Yeah, nah
Z = Zeeland

These "hunts" are really all about the number of tubes of uncirculated coins Australian Post can sell to people looking for the "special" coin.

Yes tubes not rolls, and there's plenty of empty space in the tube for the coins to rattle around in, hence I wonder what condition these coins are actually in when they are opened.

From what I've seen, they are knocked around, just like coins in the bags.

Certainly not in the same condition as a year set. I bought 3 tubes of the first set and went through them to select the best specimen of each letter. Wasn't too impressed when I opened a tube to see a dirty big sweat etched fingerprint on a letter A so they don't even bother wearing gloves when handling them.

Yikes Reminiscent of the 2012 red poppy $2 being glued onto cards by RSL volunteers.

The average person has no clue about how collectible coins should be handled.

I am wondering if the plastic coin holder in the folder is PVC ? Will it affect one side of the coin ? Maybe just leave them in the cardboard tube you buy the set in ?
Had a read of the fine print on the back of the folder to see what it said an was surprised to learn that 'Esky' is a trademark name of Coleman. Who knew?

Ah well - I'll keep any that I find in my change, but it's already tough enough to find the standard coins each year.

They haven't released the standard MOR dollar coins for the last couple of years because of all these "mickey mouse" coins.
