The seller is asking a strong price of $800 given that there was a repaired 1839 O that sold at auction in 2016 at $763. If you can get the coin in a repaired AU Details holder, I put the value at $1500 in today's market. XF repaired holder about $1000. You are going to be into the coin for about $1200 with purchase price, shipping, repairs and grading. The math does not work for a buy and flip as there is too much down side with repair quality, counterfeit, and possible low final sold price.

With your new photos, the coin will unlikely grade higher than VF Details. The wear on the obverse and reverse do not match that could be a red flag for a counterfeit.

Looks like it was worn as a pendent for a long time.

May have been mentioned. Appears to be HM-2, note the 180 degree die rotation (hole is on the top of both the obverse and reverse) disconnected berry on reverse, and also the die crack between the eagle's head and the wing running east. It appears genuine to me.

At least the hole appears to be in a "good area" for repair (if there is such a thing!). If I were getting it fixed I'd be optimistic, confident and very patient —— AND say a few prayers on the side!
I hope it goes well if you decide to pursue this adventure! Thanks for sharing!

Yea, it does look like it was worn quite some time due to where the wear is. The die cracks were what led me to believe it's genuine, I've seen them on other coins at higher grades. I'm debating on whether or not to get the hole filled, right now just enjoying it as is..

A gold chain might look better, but whatever works!

Was just for fun, hole is too small for anything I have.
