Do not worry it is not the CAM. The processes it is over my head. Complicate to come to the best results. Not easy. Just try on different position or lights or I do not know. Sometimes I took 5 to 10 photos to have one almost satisfactory.

lots of carbon spots on reverse - die not in too bad of shape, Obverse a very tired die you can see the radial flow lines extremely well. (Did the reverse die get replaced before the Obverse die, umm.. died?)

Agree the obverse exhibits a cool form of DDD. |

Start burst = Die flow lines. The devices affecting the fields is called DDD. A form of die wear that just affect the fields. Next stage will the Ridge Ring present. All just aging of the die. Like wrinkles on a Senior. (We don't think they are a good thing to us, same with the dies on an aging die) |

Congrats on a great example of die flow lines as Coop said.
These are caused by the metal flowing across the face of the die. Since there is more movement of metal towards the perimeter, that is where the deeper/stronger lines can show up.
Die maintenance (die polishing) was used to remove these lines but it seems like the mint has eliminated or severely reduced die polishing in favor of just changing out the dies when they are not up to standards.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

You might save this coin for educational purposes to show DDD. It shows on both sides of the coin. It might be something to show to a new collector? |
