to the CCF Might be man-made, but still pretty cool. Did you buy it or inherit? Tell us the story.

Without an image of the reverse, it could be a mint error. The normal should look normal. These are rare to find. They can be made by a mint employee, but are still a mint error. A legit error if the reverse is normal. But check Heritage auctions to see what they have sold for in the past. https://coins.ha.com/us-coins/ You might have to sign up there to get information. But you can check current/past auctions to see what these have brought in the past. That would be a place to check for information as they sell slabs there.

The story: In 1974 I worked in the coin and currency room of a local Regional Bank responsible for coin and currency shipments to and from the Fed. While wrapping bulk coin, I came across this half dollar and pulled it from the bin. I'm the only person who ever owned this and would like to put a value on it to see if I want to keep it or sell it. I'm attaching a picture of the reverse as was requested by someone. Thanks again for everyone's comments.

Sorry, I forgot.
I checked with Heritage Auctions and while they had none on record similar to mine, they estimated a sale value of between $500 and $2,500. That's a big spread so doesn't help much but I guess it depends on the buyer.

Very cool, thanks for the reverse pic that was asked for. You can see the weakness in the opposing area on the reverse, dead on. Good luck with whatever you decide.

If you want to sell it put it on ebay with a starting bid of $1500.00 and see if it goes anywhere.

I see a little bend on the Reverse. If heritage say 500 to 2500 are mean they will expect more. They are conservative on the first price. If you worked at an regional bank, mean the coins never come direct from the mint. the regional banks are the last (forth) step for distributions and receive also circulated coins from the bank above theirs steps. Only 12 Bank receive direct from the Mint or from treasury Banks reserve.
I wish you the best of the best.

Just to clarify, I never said the bag came directly from the mint. The bank had 60 branches plus supplied a correspondent bank that had 22 branches. That was a good size back in the 70's. We ordered directly from the FED and the bag was a mint sewn bag that the coin came from.
I do appreciate your feedback everyone!

@CD I know is hard to prove was a really bag mint, but how COOP sad: if come from the Mint are mean it is an Mint error. In you case I will say intentionally Mint error, which do not affect the value because it is up to Mint to take care of theirs production.

Cde, thanks for the backstory. You had a job that most collectors would love to have. I don't know but I think that was on the low end of the value. I'm thinking 2500. would be the starting price.

There have been employees that create errors and hope to find them in circulation. They will eventually get caught though. Most call these coins: "Mint Assisted coins".
