I think that the "toned" (dirty) areas of the field cling to the letters, Wings, leaves etc. and have quote sharp boundaries point to some kind of cleaning.
There are no major scratches or nicks though, maybe the coin could be much improved with a little acetone bath?

The coin looks like a nice original example. AU58. The coin is circulated, so fingerprints do happen. The fingerprint would not get me off this coin

Coin looks uncirculated to me, maybe a bit of light rub but I can see this getting a 62 from a TPG. If this were my coin I would dip it.

Not less than AU-58 to me, MS would not surprise.

Thanks for the responses. Auction estimate is for £300-500. I know auctions use these prices as bait, but this coin could be worth anywhere from £1000 to £3000 right?

If the coin details, the value would be around 1K. If it straight grades at AU58 about 3.5K.

Don't like the fingerprint. Slider. If you are plunking down $1000+ for it, might as well send it for restauration.

It does look like it could be high mint state. If there really is underlying luster, it would be a nice candidate for conservation.

I'm going to go with MS62 using the new photos. eye appeal and lack of luster will keep it from going any higher.

Even though at first glance no luster is apparent, a closer study shows little to no disruption of the surface. I think this is MS, or this is MS cleaned, hard to say for sure. I would pay AU-58 cleaned money for it to take a chance.

It sold for £1900 plus commission which is £2318. I was underbidder at £1800. I hope one of the coincommunity members bought it so we can see better photos!
