how to take photos with an phone. this may help
1. remove coin from holder if possible 2. turn off flash 3. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day 4. move phone about 3in from coin 5. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus 6. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin at that distance and lay phone on top. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

the Peace dollar has been polished to within inches of its death. its worth silver. when you have a silver coin that the surfaces appear to be almost melted you can bet it was polished out

Those who say FAKE please explain. From the photos you can discern. Please you three (JimmyD, LazerPig and NumisEd) guys explain. Do only one of you past the exam of Chinese counterfeit coins?

Quote: Those who say FAKE please explain i didnt call the fake but looking at the morgan there are two devices that stand out. first is the MM doesn't look right and second if you compare the distance between the 1 in the date to the neck there is less separation than on the original. not sure if this from a variety or not but thats what I spotted. the piece dollar is so messed up it doesn't matter

Two better date coins show up here with crappy pictures and no background info. Suspicion runs high. Are they real? Where did you source them from? How much did you spend on them? You should be able to answer at least two of these questions. You can put it all to bed by spending a few more bucks by sending them in to ANACS for a quick TPG and authentication. Until that happens —

@DATA, what you put in your post photos you has an altered 1923 date. Do not forgot that was 4 different Dies Design for this year, you jump to fast. This Peace dollar was counterfeit in China silver 925, Indonesia and Philippines Silver 800 and in US Silver 925. Each coin has different points of the counterfeit. Sorry, but all your life you will never know exact how to detect (no YouTube or article will teach you this).

@Silviosi - Hi, here are the corrected photos, but I did not rotate or remove background etc this time. These photo images are taken directly from graded examples on PCGS just to help others compare both of the coins in the original post side by side with what is said to be known original images of the coins on PCGS. I was just pointing to only some of the obvious differences that I see between this one posted and an original image from PCGS. https://www.PCGS.com/coinfacts/coin.../images/7374 We can only give opinions, any poster is always welcome to spend money to have coins authenticated and graded by a grading service ultimately. From what I can compare of both coins, they both are counterfeits with notable differences on both coins. Even TRUST on the peace is clearly different in the TR, the head on the back etc.
