keep in mind a coin really should be above $150 range to be worth it to slab. the cost of grading is ridiculous and chews up the majority of value on most coins unless they are rare or extremely high grade.

i.e. economy grading at PCGS is $22 per coin plus a membership fee of $69 plus about $5-7 shipping each way.

always check here first before doing anything and in the future on post one coin per thread. happy hunting

No, not an error as explained in the first answer, that is a
vise job which is considered damage, not an error.

Coins4grass. we all start from somewhere. many folks here have been in numismatics over 50years so you have a lot of experience here to tap into. you learn by doing. best thing to do to learn what to look for is follow this thread. try grading the coins posted without looking at the comments then scroll through them to see how others see it. many times there are big differences in assessments and that because grading is very subjective. even the TPG's get it wrong. toss out the lowest and highest and take the overall average of the grades of the rest. this will give you the best read on the coin.

the biggest challenge is when you get coins above MS65. it takes a sharp eye and years of experience to tell the difference between a 66, 67 or 68 coin. not many can grade these accurately and most times its just an educated guess.

welcome to the world of coins and always be inquisitive

There should be a sticky for new members to read with the guideline of $150 minimum value to get a coin graded.

They are wanting to grade everything, without taking under consideration the costs.

agreed. I dont understand where this comes from. the saving grace here is some ask first if it makes sense. the others are on their own to learn the hard way

I will take every single new member asking us "Should I send it in?" if that means we are able to save them from an expensive lesson and disappointment.

For those that don't ask though, like panzaldi said, they are learning the hard way.
