That's a nice error coin still in quite nice condition. Both the obverse and reverse show weakness in the details due to the thinner planchet, and the weight bears this out as well showing the dime to be missing the clad layer on the obverse.

Looks like a missing clad. Note how the strike was weakened with the missing thickness. Nice find.

So, there is no cladding on the edge, which means the cladding was not on the sheet just prior to getting punched into a blank. I say this because the cladding usually gets 'smeared' down the edge during blanking process. (am I correct so far?) and if so, would this mean that there could be more out there (if the mint didn't catch them all.

Nice find. The weight is right. I would think that the strike would be a little weaker, but it is weak.

yes, it is official! congrats!! what is your next move with it? Definitely keep in in a 2x2 until you decide. and GIVE IT A BATH! in pure acetone to wash off your fingerprints and hand oils that will ruin this coin. (no more handling it with bare hands. on ebay or Amazon, you can buy a packet of white cotton gloves for handling coins.)

Thank you for the concern and tips Dearborn! Not sure what to do next though. Is there any websites to visit to get an idea on the value of this dime? I really haven't found anything like this dime, except one and it was on sale for I believe $300 or $350. Thank to again .

Check ebay sold values for one similar to your coin. John1

A very nice error, congrats. Unfortunately I see roll crimper damage on the obverse (wheel mark) so this coin will not get top dollar if you wish to sell it.
