I agree with panzaldi, EF45 and details (cleaned).

XF at best. And VF wouldn't surprise me.

Sure looks like it had an old cleaning based on the first image. Could be the lighting. AU53, possibly Details cleaned.

With a price diff of around $100 from VF-35 to AU-58 I would save up for a nice 58. VF-35 for me...maybe a generous XF-40 being a key date. Not a fan of the obverse toning. smat

EF45 details, cleaned Very poor eye appeal If someone got this into a straight grade holder in an AU grade, they won the TPG lottery.

Cleaning is apparent to me now.

It's an AU58: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284975111461inj1944 nailed it. I see it as AU details - cleaned and unattractive at that. After seeing the first photo come up on ebay I though "that's a details coin!". I guess NGC just let this one slide. A perfect example of "buy the coin, not the holder"

It is an AU Details piece regardless of the slab. The cleaning is excessive with the obverse being worse than the reverse.

First photo to my eye shows an obvious cleaning.

we are grading from a photo so lighting and angle play a huge role in what we see. the coin may look different in hand. no matter what it looks like in hand I would not assign an AU58 grade to it regardless if was cleaned or not.
buy the coin not the slab applies. sometimes they slide through

AU-58 does not surprise me if it didn't detail. That does not mean I would pay anywhere near AU-58 prices for it. It certainly looks cleaned.

Lot of wear. I'm at EF-45, maybe Details.

If I saw that out of the slab, I would've said it was fake. The lip, nose and that neck beard toning! ; )
